What happens during the Free Consultation? Where does it take place? The free consultation takes place in your home, fitness center, or the recreation area in your building.
The one hour free consultation is offered as a courtesy to all new clients. It's an opportunity to help you get acquainted with our service before actual training begins. You'll learn more about senior fitness exercise, and how it will help you avoid falls, and stay out of the hospital.
During the consultation we will review your Health History Profile. You may ask questions regarding your exercise routine, what you'd like to accomplish, your concerns, and interests.
If your workout will be in your home, we will discuss how much equipment you'll need to purchase.
Where will the personal training take place?
All training sessions take place either in your home, office, the fitness center in your condo, or outdoors.
If I train at home, do I need alot of space?
Personal training doesn't take up alot of space. Depending on what exercises you can do, you will either stand, sit in a chair, or use the floor for your exercise routine. Some of our clients do a combination of all three. You can have a very effect senior fitness routine without leaving your home.
Is it possible to have a good exercise routine, if I can't get up and down on the floor?
You can have a very effective, and comprehensive senior exercise routine even if you can't get up and down from the floor. Cardio, weights, stretching, Yoga, and Tai Chi Movement can all be done while standing, or sitting in a chair.
Do I need to purchase equipment for personal training, Yoga, Tai Chi, or Pilates?
If you have a fitness center in your building, you won't have to purchase equipment. If you take your training in your home, you will need to purchase equipment.
The amount of equipment you'll need depends on your abilities, needs, interests, and finances. The price of your personal training session includes professional balance, and agility equipment.
Tai Chi requires a non-skid, pliable shoe. Yoga, and Pilates requires a good non-slip mat.
You can discuss equipment needs more thoroughly during your consultation.
How many total personal training sessions will I need?
The number of total personal training sessions you need, depends on several factors: what you want to achieve, how much money you have to invest, and how motivated you are to remain healthy and independent.
If you've been sedentary for many years, it will take longer to achieve your health and fitness goals. While you can expect to see changes in strength in 2 to 3 months, realistically, it is not an overnight process. Patience is a virtue, in this endeavor.
You can discuss your goals during your free consultation, to determine whether you want to commit to a long or short-term training program.
How many weekly personal training sessions do I need?
To make progress, you will need to train at least twice per week. A third session will accelerate your progress.
For those who cannot afford two or three SeniorFit sessions per week, you should practice what you learned during your personal training session on your own.
The one-hour free consultation is a good opportunity to discuss your exercise plans, and finances.
How much will it cost?
All new clients are eligible for the Introductory Rate. You may take up to 4 sessions within a 30 day period. After your first 4 sessions, the regular rate applies.
Can I take personal training with my spouse, a family member, or friend? If you sign up for Buddy Workouts, you can train with another person. This applies to Mind/Body exercise as well.
Certain individuals feel more motivated when training with a partner. The fee for Buddy Workouts is less than a private session. Click here to find out about our prices.
Do I have to buy a package requiring a long-term financial committment?
There are no packages to buy. Payment is made by check at the time of your training session.
What happens if I have to cancel my session?
If you have to cancel your session, please give as much notice as possible. When you cancel at the last minute, we lose that session. When you give more notice, we have the opportunity to temporarily schedule someone else in your place.
Can I invite family members, or friends to my personal training, or a Tai Chi session? For an additional fee you can invite one other person to participate in your one-hour Tai Chi, Yoga, or Pilates session.
Having visitors during your personal training session is not productive. If you would like to train with another person, consider signing up for Buddy Workouts.
Can I sign up for Mind/Body exercise. How much will it cost?
It doesn't cost extra to take Mind/Body. When you become a SeniorFit client, you're eligible to take advantage of all services. If you prefer you can sign-up for Mind/Body exercise such as Tai Chi, Yoga, or Pilates.
Hourly rates are the same, whether you take personal training, Mind/Body exercise, or Reiki Bodywork.
My husband and I would like to sign-up for Buddy Workouts. What happens when he's out-of-town?
You can take your training session without your husband at the regular rate.
What type of clothing should I wear?
Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing. Sweat pants should not reach below the ankle.
Sturdy athletic shoes should be worn for personal training.
With the exception of Yoga and Pilates, barefoot is not acceptable.
Tai Chi shoes have a thin rubber sole, very pliable, and should be worn during practice.
If I arrive late for my session, can I get extra time?
If you have a one-hour appointment at 8:00 A.M., and you arrive 10 minutes late, your session will end at 9:00 A.M.
Be sure to schedule your appointment at a convenient time. Frequent lateness interferes with achieving your goals.
